Custom Made Longboards

For me, riding has always been just one side of longboarding; the other half is creating something that feels like it’s truly mine. A custom longboard is exactly that. It’s not just picking a board off a rack; it’s building something that matches your vibe, your style, and the way you like to ride. There’s something really special about rolling on a board that you designed yourself.

If you want to go all in, you can literally build one from scratch. I’ve done it once, and it’s a process. You start with wood veneers, glue, and some kind of press setup, sometimes just clamps and heavy weights if you’re keeping it simple. Shaping it, letting it cure, sanding everything down, then finishing it with paint or graphics. It takes time and patience, but when you step on it for the first ride, it feels completely different. You made that.

That said, not everyone wants to spend days or weeks building a deck. And honestly, you don’t have to. Customizing a longboard can be just as fun without all the heavy work. I love starting with a deck shape that fits how I ride. Pintails for that flowy, beachy cruising, drop-throughs for easy pushing around town, or a kicktail if I want something playful. Then I match it with trucks that feel right, maybe something smooth and carvy, and pick wheels based on where I ride most.

This is where it gets creative. Wheel colors, truck finishes, grip tape designs—these small details completely change the look of your board. I usually go for softer wheels for that smooth, quiet roll, especially when I’m cruising along paths or boardwalks.

One of my favorite easy ways to customize is starting with a blank deck. It’s like a canvas. You can paint it, use stencils, or even go freehand if you’re feeling bold. I’ve done floral designs, abstract patterns, and even layered textures. It doesn’t have to be perfect; that’s kind of the point.

And if you want something quick, stickers or pre-designed decks still let you make it yours. Mix and match components, add your own touches, and you’ve got a board that stands out without overthinking it.

At the end of the day, customizing your longboard is about expressing yourself. Every scratch, every color, every choice tells a bit of your story.
