Toy Machine Templeton Camera Monster 8.5" Skateboard - Key Questions Answered
Is this 8.5" deck a good choice if I want more stability without giving up too much flip response?
Yes, 8.5" gives you a steadier platform than a narrower street deck while staying usable for flip tricks. It’s a smart middle ground if you want confidence on landings and enough response for park or street sessions.
What kind of skating is this board best for?
It fits all-around skating, especially street lines, park transitions, and bowl riding. The wider shape helps when you want control on sketchy landings or extra room underfoot in transition.
How does the 7-ply maple construction feel on the board?
7-ply maple usually feels stiff, lively, and predictable under pressure. That means solid pop and a familiar response if you want a standard pro-style deck feel session after session.
Would this work well for a beginner who wants one deck to learn on?
Yes, if you want a forgiving size that feels less twitchy than a smaller deck. The extra width can make balance and landing tricks feel easier while you build consistency.
How does this compare with an 8.0" deck if I skate mostly street?
An 8.0" will flip a bit faster, but this 8.5" gives you more stability and comfort. Choose this if you value control and confidence more than the quickest possible flips.

Skater since 1974, pool pipe and skatepark, I've ridden it all but these Carver C7 trucks were a revelation. Best for slow speed styling and generally hanging some art on mellow terrain.
Definitely a kick and worth trying.

I've never had a board I've loved this much. Made with coconut fibers and Hawaiian print cloth. I'm in love. Abec 7s are smoothe, grips great. Overall 10/10

I am loving this board so far! I reached out to LBUSA to get some help finding the right board for me. They were more than helpful and the process of getting help, ordering the board, and then delivery was flawless. I am excited with my purchase and am thrilled with the customer service along the way. Top notch!

Well built and super fun to skate on. Wheels work well on imperfect pavement and sidewalk cracks. Bearings are legit.

Kiddo got this board for Christmas, for us to ride on Route 66. Board is good quality. No name trucks, but they function well for her. She likes the Punked Speed Series wheels. We did put reds super bearings in it. The factory bearings do not roll near as well. For the price, for a complete, it is well worth it. This is our second Punked Longboard, and both have served their purpose. I would buy from this company, and Vendor again, without question.

Trippy assym setup with Rogue ZM1's and assorted wheels really rips for downhill! I also hope to run cones with it soon.
