Retrospec Zed Mojave Stripes 44" Kicktail Longboard - Key Questions Answered
Is this a good longboard for a first-time rider?
Yes, it’s a strong pick if you want extra stability while learning to cruise and carve. The 44" deck and lower ride height help the board feel calmer underfoot than shorter, taller setups.
What kind of riding is this board best for?
It’s best for relaxed cruising, campus commuting, and learning smooth carving. The kicktail also adds useful control when you need to lift over cracks or make quick direction changes.
How stable does it feel at normal cruising speed?
It should feel stable and predictable, especially compared with smaller cruiser boards. The drop-through, drop-down shape lowers your center of gravity, which helps reduce wobble and makes foot-braking feel more controlled.
Would a 44-inch deck feel too big for casual use?
Not if you want a relaxed stance and room to move your feet. The extra length makes it easier to stay comfortable on longer rides, though it will be less compact than a short commuter board.
Why choose this over a smaller cruiser board?
Choose this if you want more confidence, smoother turns, and a board that feels settled as speed builds. A smaller cruiser is quicker to carry, but this design is better for steady everyday riding.

Skater since 1974, pool pipe and skatepark, I've ridden it all but these Carver C7 trucks were a revelation. Best for slow speed styling and generally hanging some art on mellow terrain.
Definitely a kick and worth trying.

I've never had a board I've loved this much. Made with coconut fibers and Hawaiian print cloth. I'm in love. Abec 7s are smoothe, grips great. Overall 10/10

I am loving this board so far! I reached out to LBUSA to get some help finding the right board for me. They were more than helpful and the process of getting help, ordering the board, and then delivery was flawless. I am excited with my purchase and am thrilled with the customer service along the way. Top notch!

Well built and super fun to skate on. Wheels work well on imperfect pavement and sidewalk cracks. Bearings are legit.

Kiddo got this board for Christmas, for us to ride on Route 66. Board is good quality. No name trucks, but they function well for her. She likes the Punked Speed Series wheels. We did put reds super bearings in it. The factory bearings do not roll near as well. For the price, for a complete, it is well worth it. This is our second Punked Longboard, and both have served their purpose. I would buy from this company, and Vendor again, without question.

Trippy assym setup with Rogue ZM1's and assorted wheels really rips for downhill! I also hope to run cones with it soon.
