Kahuna Creations Pohaku Kakau 46" Pin Tail Longboard - Key Questions Answered
Is this longboard a good choice for a beginner who wants an easier, more stable first ride?
Yes, the 46" pintail shape gives you a longer, steadier standing platform that feels predictable underfoot. That makes balance practice and relaxed cruising less intimidating than on a shorter, snappier deck.
What kind of riding is it best for?
It is best for smooth cruising and flowing carves on boardwalks, paths, and gentle streets. If you want surf-like turns rather than tricks or tight technical moves, this shape fits that use well.
How does it feel compared with a smaller commuter board?
It feels more settled and less twitchy, especially once you pick up speed or link turns. A smaller board is easier to carry, but this one gives you a calmer ride and more room to stand.
Would this work for campus or daily neighborhood cruising?
Yes, if your route is mostly flat with gentle curves and you want an easy standing stance. It is a better fit for relaxed cruising than for quick stop-and-go riding or crowded, tight spaces.
What should I expect from the ride feel before I buy?
Expect smooth, sweeping turns with a stable, confident feel rather than sharp snap. The 46" length and pintail outline are made for comfort and flow, not for aggressive maneuvering.

Trippy assym setup with Rogue ZM1's and assorted wheels really rips for downhill! I also hope to run cones with it soon.

Kiddo got this board for Christmas, for us to ride on Route 66. Board is good quality. No name trucks, but they function well for her. She likes the Punked Speed Series wheels. We did put reds super bearings in it. The factory bearings do not roll near as well. For the price, for a complete, it is well worth it. This is our second Punked Longboard, and both have served their purpose. I would buy from this company, and Vendor again, without question.

Well built and super fun to skate on. Wheels work well on imperfect pavement and sidewalk cracks. Bearings are legit.

Skater since 1974, pool pipe and skatepark, I've ridden it all but these Carver C7 trucks were a revelation. Best for slow speed styling and generally hanging some art on mellow terrain.
Definitely a kick and worth trying.
