Curious how it came to be? In 1974, legendary Hawaiian shaper Ben Aipa created the original “Da Sting” for Larry Bertleman after watching him at the Lighthouse: “I would watch him at the Lighthouse for a moment, and I could see what he was attempting to do… I knew he was the future, so I went back to the shop and imagined the kind of board dynamics he’d need to get the maneuvers he was attempting.” Decades later, Carver teamed up with the Aipa family to translate that quick-turning DNA into a surfskate, echoing the fast-pumping maneuvers Carver pioneered for skateboards in 1996. The clear sugar coat grip reveals the iconic blue flames - one of the most recognizable airbrush designs in surfboard history.
