Baker Reynolds Big Iron 8.5" Skateboard Deck - Key Questions Answered
What kind of skating is this 8.5 deck best for?
It’s built for street, park, and transition skating where you want a stable, predictable feel. The wider 8.5 shape gives you more control on ledges, gaps, and bowls without feeling bulky.
Is this a good choice if I usually ride an 8.25 or smaller deck?
Yes, if you want a little more room underfoot and more confidence on landings. It still keeps a responsive popsicle shape, so it won’t feel slow or overly roomy.
How does it feel compared with a narrower street deck?
It feels steadier and easier to trust when you’re moving fast or landing slightly off-center. You give up a bit of quickness, but gain a more forgiving platform.
Would this work well for an intermediate skater who wants one deck for street and park?
Yes, it’s a strong all-around option for skaters who want one shape that can handle both technical street tricks and transition. The maple construction and pro-model shape make it a familiar, dependable ride.
What should I expect from the Big Iron as a replacement for an older board?
Expect a fresh, snappy feel with more control than a worn-out deck that has lost its pop. It’s a solid upgrade if you want a proven Baker shape and a wider stance for everyday skating.

Skater since 1974, pool pipe and skatepark, I've ridden it all but these Carver C7 trucks were a revelation. Best for slow speed styling and generally hanging some art on mellow terrain.
Definitely a kick and worth trying.

I've never had a board I've loved this much. Made with coconut fibers and Hawaiian print cloth. I'm in love. Abec 7s are smoothe, grips great. Overall 10/10

Well built and super fun to skate on. Wheels work well on imperfect pavement and sidewalk cracks. Bearings are legit.

Kiddo got this board for Christmas, for us to ride on Route 66. Board is good quality. No name trucks, but they function well for her. She likes the Punked Speed Series wheels. We did put reds super bearings in it. The factory bearings do not roll near as well. For the price, for a complete, it is well worth it. This is our second Punked Longboard, and both have served their purpose. I would buy from this company, and Vendor again, without question.

Trippy assym setup with Rogue ZM1's and assorted wheels really rips for downhill! I also hope to run cones with it soon.
